Soul in Bloom

Light spills in through tall loft windows in the historic heart of Milan — and it is like stepping into a painter's vision of spring at its most hopeful. Luisa Beccaria, joined by her daughter Lucilla, moves her atelier to a sunlit loft, staging "Soul in Bloom - Atelier d'Été" at the courtyard of Palazzo Bovara. The setting feels intentional: a clean start, a new chapter.
"Soul in Bloom" is more than seasonal flourishes; it is a mood of renewal. As the Beccarias explain, this collection is a "quest for harmony"— not only in clothes, but in inner lives—and that intention infuses almost every silhouette and fabric. There is vulnerability here, but not weakness; transparency, not exposure. Lightness does not equate to superficiality.
Expect whisper-like textiles—diaphanous organza, lace, tulle, and lightweight chiffon—layered and juxtaposed with more substantial textures like moiré, woven tweed, and brocade, with tone-on-tone depth. These richer materials are used with restraint, anchoring the fragile, ethereal layers. The palette is a watercolor dawn: sky-blues, periwinkle, veiled pinks, fresh sun-yellow, and greens reminiscent of new leaves; pure white, and touches of the night sky. Prints trace blossoms, foliage, and painterly abstractions, sometimes defined, sometimes hazy. Dresses remain the heart of the collection, floaty, garden-inspired, soft in line. But alongside them, there are more daring cuts: corseted bodices over trousers, suits reimagined with transparency, and structured pieces that still feel light. Daywear becomes delicate yet designed. Waist belts turn into corolla-like details; collars and hems whisper of classic femininity but with fresh edges.
The collection's sense of balance is its most outstanding achievement. It doesn't swing fully into ornamentation nor restrain itself into minimalism — the pitch is somewhere in between, where elegance meets breathing room. The notion of hope, renewal, ethical fashion, and inner life isn't tacked on; it feels inseparable from the clothes. Moreover, offering more expanded daywear and resort lines alongside the ceremony and event dresses suggests that Luisa Beccaria is broadening both appeal and purpose. The delicate transparency and gauzy textures, while beautiful, always risk practical wear limitations: in light of travel, weather, or everyday movement, some garments may feel too ephemeral. Additionally, when working with softer, more diffused prints and light tones, there's a challenge in ensuring that details —such as hems, seams, and accessories— are visible and strong enough to hold up in less curated settings. The collection's romanticism could veer into wistfulness if not anchored by strong pieces.
Luisa Beccaria SS26 blooms like a quiet manifesto. It asserts that fashion can be gentle and deliberate, that transparency can be strength, and that beauty need not shout — it can whisper, reflect, uplift. "Soul in Bloom" does not ask for spectacle; it asks for presence, for optimism, for clothes that mirror the soul's capacity to regenerate. In a crowded Fashion Week full of flash, this is a collection that lingers in soft light and rich color.
