When Jean-Claude Jitrois unveiled his Spring/Summer 2026 offering at Paris Fashion Week, it arrived not as mere clothing but as a cinematic manifesto. Titled "Freedom has no destination. Only the road." the collection radiates motion, rebellion, and skin-sensing luxury.

At the heart of this collection is Jitrois's signature domain: stretch leather that hugs, sculpts, and performs. From the first look, sculpted mini-dresses in lambskin appeared almost like second skins—aggressive yet seductive. Meanwhile, biker jackets in graphic black and white and sharp tailoring elevated the leather into armor.

Rather than simply dress the body, these pieces seem designed to empower the body. They aren't shy about skin, but neither are they purely about exposure; instead, they hint at control, power, and movement.

This collection invokes a road-movie aesthetic: the open highway, the midnight drive, escape as ritual. References to Thelma & Louise, The Doom Generation, and La Dolce Vita (and their attendant emotions of vengeance, flight, and nocturnal glamour) anchor the mood. The colour story supports this: base notes of absolute black and stark white set the tone; meanwhile, flashes of fuchsia, scarlet, electric blue, and mineral skin tones slide in like passing billboards on the road.

Jitrois plays with dualities. Sheer tulle and mesh columns speak vulnerability; razor-sharp tailoring and leather cuts speak strength. The colliding of these opposites— transparency and armor—forms the collection's tension. Panels of sheer fabric revealing skin sit alongside jackets built like constructions; mini-skirts and body-cling dresses contrast with biker silhouettes. This is fashion as sensation, as a declaration of movement and possibility, not stillness and serenity.

While the runway energy is high, the translation to real life is plausible—especially for those drawn to statement pieces and constructed drama. The signature leather pieces will carry weight (literally and figuratively), but a few pared-back looks—perhaps a stretch-leather skirt or a bold jacket—could anchor a wardrobe with attitude. That said, this is not a collection of modest whispers; it is loud, it demands presence. For someone seeking quiet minimalism, this may feel too amplified. But for someone ready to be seen, ready to claim space, it's precisely on point.

Jitrois's SS26 is less about arriving and more about the act of driving— the road, the night, the skin in motion. With all the craftsmanship of leather-craft, tailoring, and a bold palette, the collection asserts that freedom is not a destination—it is the vehicle. In a season crowded with spectacle, Jitrois reminds us that power is also about skin, speed, and light.
